Mad Max: Fury Road

So, first of all let me welcome you back on this website. I decided to give it a small face-lift so I changed the theme to a more responsive one (as I am assuming that you read this blog from your tablet, mobile phone or laptop).

Being a fan of the old series (Mad Max was my nickname for games like Quake or StarCraft) you can imagine my interest for the forth one.

Maybe Batman was highly anticipated just like this one. As I am writing this, the Fury Road OST is playing in the background.

It’s why I choose to do this, to get with the atmosphere and the thrills of the movie. Because, it’s a non-stop action. From the beginning to the end.

Based on a futuristic (present, considering the fact that the first Mad Max was place around this time) apocalyptic dystopian desert/wasteland (who knows for sure?), Fury Road is also the maturisation of the genre and the establishment of Tom Hardy as a great actor (nope, Bane an Bronson wasn’t enough).

A lot of the details didn’t make any sense until I did some research and found out that Frank Miller, the director, is a doctor (medic) at his basic; so there goes the blood transfusion, the half-life people and why they looked that way (seems like they have some blood type cancer that will not permit them to live long -half-life- and blood transfusion is actually a treatment for them-and you can see some tumors mentioned in one of the characters).

Another great thing about this movie, is that it’s not based on a romantic relationship.

Ok, it does have two main characters, a woman and a man, but spoiler, romanticism is very different in that world. The struggle to survive, and the redemption that both seek it’s what can get them together.

One that’s searching a memory, the other trying to go as far away from it as it can. “Hope is a mistake. If you can’t fix what’s broken, you’ll go insane.”

And to talk about patience, the director waited some 25 years or so to do this one, but it was totally worth it. Non Stop action from the beginning to the end. And, on top of that, there’s  more sequels to come.
