I know Raiders of the Lost Ark is a landmark in pop culture – it didn’t influence me (or most of my friends, growing up). I started watching the Dial of Destiny and I’ve closed it after the first 10 minutes. I simply couldn’t anymore. It felt like the last 20 minutes of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One – which I also couldn’t bear.
Ok, this post is about another movie that I’ve put after the Dial… – my apologies, but I had to put this out there.
You already know how much I appreciate Shyamalan – his daughter’s directorial debut did not disappoint. It felt like the movie should have ended a few times, but it was perfect for a Sunday afternoon. I don’t bother reading movie reviews anymore, and since that can influence the mark, this one got on IMDB – 5. something. It’s not justified. Everything Everywhere All at Once has 7.8 yet I couldn’t pass the 20 min mark. And I did try – 3 or 5 times, I promise you. Now, movie commentaries – that’s another thing. That’s what you’re here for, right?
Folklore, traditions, and Shymanlanian twists all over.
